Posters and signs are a classic form of marketing, for both indoor and outdoor promotions. Posters can be framed or unframed to display on bulletin boards, walls or in windows. Pull-up banners are perfect when you’re on the move and need a portable solution for branding at meetings and events.

With a range of sizes available, posters and signs can be colourful and artwork-heavy, to simple and minimalist in their design.

The ideal choice of poster size – and its design - will depend on two key factors: the space available for display, and the distance from which it will be viewed. The human eye’s horizontal and vertical fields of vision (135 degrees and 180 degrees respectively) result in an optimum viewing range for images of varying sizes. Here’s our ‘rule-of-thumb’ guide for the ideal viewing range for standard poster and pull-up banner sizes:

A3 posters (size 297 x 420mm): view from 0.77 to 1.03 metres
A2 posters (size 420 x 594mm): view from 1.09 to 1.45 metres
A1 posters (size 594 x 841mm): view from 1.54 to 2.06 metres
A0 posters (size 841 x 1189mm): view from 2.18 to 2.91 metres
Pull-up Banner (size 850 x 2000mm): view from 3.3 to 4.3 metres

While I’m here, what else can I design and print?

So you have the design bug – that’s great! It’s probably time to make sure you’ve created a SNAP account. That way you can take elements from one product design and use them to create another.

Let’s say you’ve designed and printed some brochures in A6, A4, A5 or DL. Now you can easily turn them into a poster (in A3, A1, A0 or A2). There’s also an opportunity to create pull-up banners, flyers or business cards.

And don’t forget: we also print stickers in rectangle, square or round.

Do I need to have a pre-designed poster (.. or any other product, for that matter) to get it printed?

Not at all. We offer three easy design options.

Design with Canva: Try your hand and design from scratch or be inspired by one of our customisable templates

Use our Design Services: Let one of our in-house professional design team members to create an eye-catching work of (product) art for you.

Upload your own design. Already have a professionally designed image file for your (product)? You can upload it in either PDF, EPS or AI formats.

How do I know what size to choose for my poster?

There are a few things to take into consideration when you’re deciding on size – the first being where you’re planning to display it. As a general rule, people tend to go smaller than they should. A great idea is to tape out the measurements on a wall or whiteboard to get a tangible idea of what you’re working with.

Another thing to consider is where the poster’s audience will be. If they’ll be in a tight space, feel free to go a bit smaller than you would in a larger area.

What exactly is a pull-up banner? What do people usually use them for?

Basically, a pull-up banner is a retractable, free-standing poster. When you’re not using it, it rolls away into its own tube. When you need it, just pull it out, quickly assemble it, and presto – instant signage, no wall required!
